The Illinois Touchstone Energy Home program was developed by the Illinois electric cooperatives to give our members the guidelines they need to assure that their new homes are truly energy efficient. Recommended practices are described in our booklet, along with basic guidelines from the Illinois Energy Code for new homes and retrofits.

The Illinois Touchstone Energy Home book discusses in layman’s terms some of the methods and techniques of building energy efficient homes. Some areas included are framing, insulation, air sealing, vapor barriers, heating and cooling systems, water heating and other details.
