Rural Electric Convenience Cooperative (RECC) Auburn, Illinois, is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Accountant. This position reports directly to the Manager of Finance & Administration.

RECC is a member-owned electric utility and provides electricity to 5,858 accounts. The cooperative maintains over 1,371 miles of line, spread over five counties, and has annual revenue of $14.2 million. Auburn is in a thriving agricultural area, just 15 minutes from the state capital of Springfield.

Accountant responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of accurate and timely accounting records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the Manager of Finance & Administration in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department, including financial statement preparation.
  • Maintenance of continuing property records. The maintenance of plant accounting records, journals and ledgers in an accurate manner and on a timely basis.
  • Reconcile physical inventory to book amount, making sure all inventory transactions are recorded.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

All candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in the accounting field. Knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications is important. A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required.
