Doug Rye Energy Efficiency Seminar Oct. 19
Blackburn College, Carlinville
RECC is co-sponsoring a Doug Rye Home Energy Efficiency Seminar, open to the public, on Tuesday evening, Oct. 19, at Blackburn College in Carlinville. Doug Rye is a national residential energy consultant, an architect who has promoted energy efficiency in new and existing homes since the 1970s. He's affectionately known as "The King of Talk and Caulk."
Since 1991, Doug’s weekly "Home Remedies" radio show has provided practical insight into home construction ideas and energy efficiency measures. Doug is known nationwide for his honest, down-to-earth and friendly style. His show airs live each Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Central Time) on WSMI 1540AM. Callers with energy efficiency, new construction and remodel questions are always welcome and encouraged to call the show.
Doug has made many presentations across Illinois and other states, in an entertaining but straightforward style. One of his famous comments is, “If you build a house with high energy costs, it's your own cotton-pickin' fault!” A past article from Doug Rye is on page 6 of this issue, to help introduce you to him.
If you’re planning to build a home, or trying to make your present house more efficient, please join us at Blackburn College on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The seminar is sponsored by Rural Electric Convenience Cooperative and M.J.M. Electric Cooperative, to promote energy savings by our members.
